Activity ideas from our teachers

Follow along with a reading of “Little Cloud” by Eric Carle, then get out the paper and paint to make Ink Blot Clouds. What shapes do you see? Can you make the same exact cloud twice? Change up the weather and make rain inside your house (no rainboots needed, but highly encouraged)! Get some fresh air and take a walk around your neighborhood taking care to observe the weather. Draw the weather that you see. Is it going to rain or snow? How do you know?

Relax and listen as Ms. Jane reads “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” and “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” by Laura Numeroff. Learn how to Address an Envelope and make a Picture Penpal. Bake some cookies and then make two different types of pancakes. Which one do you think will take the cake? Break out the scissors and some old magazines to brighten up a room with a Collage Masterpiece. Try your best not to laugh at a Silly Themed fashion show. Wrap up the afternoon with a super, bubbly, bubble bath and Homemade Bath Crayons.

Follow along with a reading of “Corduroy” by Don Freeman, then head into a darkened room and tell a story with Shadow Fingers. Learn how to sew on a button like Lisa and then practice your counting and grouping with Counting Toys.

Follow along with a reading of “The Earth Book” by Todd Parr, then head outside to gather a little bit of nature for some textured painting (please don’t use local wildlife). Put on your best walking shoes and head out on Mother Nature’s Scavenger Hunt, but be sure to only come back with a big appetite. Quench your thirst with a Green Smoothie and stave off your hunger with a little bit of Edible Earth.
