Activity ideas from our teachers
Follow along with a reading of “My Five Senses” by Aliki, then test your sense of sight with Glitter Plates. Explore your sense of touch with Gold Ball Painting and Mystery Bag. What’s that sound? How many sounds can you identify? Was that a fish barking? Do fish even bark? Dig out the blindfold and get your tongue ready for a Taste Testing Challenge, then get the par-TEA started with Tea Bag Matching. Can you smell the difference between Earl Grey and Chai? Use your keen eyes to play Watch Out Snake and Red Light, Green Light, then show off moves with Freeze Dance.
Three fun activities with painter's tape that will have you jumping great distances, rescuing animals and hopping on one foot!
Relax and listen as Ms. Jane reads “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. Learn about the life cycle of a butterfly, then watch as a Swallowtail Butterfly transitions through its life cycle. Can you identify each stage of metamorphosis? Get up and get moving with a new Days of the Week song!
Follow along with a reading of “Ice Is Nice!: All About the North and South Poles” by Dr. Seuss, then put on some warm winter gloves and paint with ice! Don’t take your gloves off yet. You’ll need them to make some Ice Cream with salt and ice. Take off your shoes and crank up the tunes for a little Ice Skating around the house!
