Activity ideas from our teachers

Follow along with four different stories about princesses that rescue themselves by working hard and being clever. Learn how to build your very own castle and a fierce dragon to protect it. Change pace and excavate an ice castle with hidden treasures.

Sing the short ballad of Tiny Tim the Turtle and then dive into the ocean to learn about food chains of the sea. Make your own nesting chains and reflect on your new-found knowledge with some Ocean Yoga! Test your number knowledge and luck with a new Ocean Dice Game.

Follow along with a reading of “The Mixed-Up Chameleon” by Eric Carle and “A Color of His Own” by Leo Lionni. Put on your apron and then head into the kitchen to make some Rainbow Crayons. Set your inner artist free with the Mosaic Chameleon and then try not to eat the pieces of the Rainbow Math Game. (We won’t judge if you have to, “follow your nose”). Wrap up the afternoon with a Rainbow Scavenger Hunt. Can you find all of the colors on the list?

Meet astronaut Kate Rubins and listen to her read “Rosie Revere, Engineer” from the International Space Station. Draw a picture of your favorite airplane or a design of a gadget or gizmo of your very own. Take your design and bring it to life! Learn about aerodynamics and experiment to see if different materials can affect flight!
